Tales of Death (temporary title) is a project I began earlier this year. Early thoughts on the project began last year. It was when I heard Hallowed Be Thy Name on the radio that I knew I had to do this.
The project will consist of a series of short stories that all surround the main character's death. Each story is told from the victim's eyes - entirely in first person. I had read a couple of books written in first person, so I had something to go on. Still, the perspective presents a new challenge.
Each story is independent, but they are also connected. I currently have about 15-20 ideas on stories to write, but I am always thinking of more. As of this writing, one story is finished and another is about halfway done. I will be including the first tale below.
I originally began this project to help keep me writing. It is sometimes hard to squeeze in time for the larger projects, seeing how you often have to get caught up on what has come before. This project was meant to offer me a chance to write during the shorter writing sessions. Unfortunately, I have not been keeping up on this one either. This is one project that I do expect to publish one day. Forever Doom may be far too violent and sexually explicit to see actual publication. No Presents for Christmas is borderline. I'd like to at least self-publish that one. This one will be brutal, but it will be without the over the top sex, violence, and humor that the others contain. Or at least it will be minimal. I can't help but be racy.
Below, is the first draft of one of the stories in the Tales of Death. It may be the first one - it may not be. It is the first one I wrote, however. As with Forever Doom, this sample has been edited for the web. I have edited out any descriptive violence that had to do with children. Remember, this is also a work in progress. The story is finished, but it has not been put through a final edit. The published version will likely differ from what you read here. Other than that, enjoy the read. Mature audiences only.
